Primer on ENERGY AUDIT of
Designated Establishment

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

To conduct an Energy Audit of a Designated Establishment and its facilities to:

  • Assess the energy management program of the company.

  • Determine, explore and discover opportunities for improvement and savings through analysis of process, system, operation and technology.

  • Recommend energy efficiency measures toward potential energy saving opportunities to ensure a sustainable energy management performance improvement and practices.

  • To comply with the energy audit requirement of the Dept of Energy.

 

SCOPE OF ENERGY AUDIT:

The Energy Audit shall be conducted per site of Designated Establishment.

 

SCOPE OF SERVICES:

The energy audit shall focus on 3 main aspects of your company that affect energy performance:

  1. Electrical system

  2. Significant Energy Use areas

  3. Energy Management System

 

Deliverables are defined in detail during the proposal.

  1. ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System standard

  2. ISO 50002 or ASHRAE energy audit standard

  3. UNIDO tools on energy review

  4. Electrical and Mechanical Code

  5. DOE EE&C Implementing Rules and Regulations

 

TYPES of ENERGY AUDIT (Number of audit days depend on the size of the establishment)

Level 1 – Walkthrough audit, identification of energy saving opportunities. (1-2 days)

Level 2 – More detailed energy audit with spot checking and economic analysis of energy savings opportunities. (2 – 5 days)

Level 3 – Investment Grade energy audit to determine the economic viability of a CAPEX project. (5 – 10 days)

 

METHODOLOGY:

The energy audit shall be done in 3 phases:

 

  1. Preliminary collection and analysis of existing available data. – 2 weeks prior the field audit

  2. Field Audit of the client facilities – on site assessment

  3. Report to Top Management – Initial presentation of findings and recommendations during the on-site field audit.

  4. Submission of Final Report – 2 weeks after the field audit
